          Rafael Eitan was born Rafael Kaminsky in the moshav of Tel Adashim[1] near Nazareth in 1929, to Eliyahu and Miriam Eitan, Ukrainian Jewish immigrants to Palestine. His father was one of the founders of the Jewish defense organization Hashomer.
