Sherrod Gideon (born February 21, ) is a former American and Canadian footballwide receiver.
He played college football at Southern Mississippi.
Heading into last season, Southern Mississippi wide receiver Sherrod Gideon was not a household name.
He was drafted in the 6th round (th overall) in the NFL draft by the New Orleans Saints, he was the first player picked after Tom Brady.

Gideon was born in Greenwood, Mississippi and attended Greenwood High School.[3]
Gideon attended college at Southern Mississippi.
In , he appeared in 11 games, recording 33 receptions for yards and one touchdown.[4] In , he appeared in 12 games, recording 53 reception for 1, yards and nine touchdowns.
